Every now and then we all need a little affirmation; some sign that our efforts do not go unnoticed; a nod from the outside world that we’re doing something right. For us, that acknowledgement came yesterday when many of the lodges we’ve recommended time and time again received the highest praise in Condé Nast’s Readers’ Choice Awards. We can’t help bathe in some of the peripheral limelight. The true glory, however, rests with the properties that have poured their passion, time and dedication into creating places where guests feel simultaneously spoilt and at home. While the champagne is still flowing we’d like to extend a huge congratulations to the lodges that have done Africa so proud. Quincy Jones said “the people who make it to the top – whether they’re musicians, or great chefs, or corporate honchos – are addicted to their calling … [they] are the ones who’d be doing whatever it is they love, even if they weren’t being paid.” This is certainly true of the owners and passionate staff at each of the below lodges. Particular praise must be levelled on the lodges that earned a place on the highly sought after list…
