Tom our guide pointed into the thick bush, his keen eyes having spotted something the rest of us couldn’t see. Closer inspection revealed a female leopard perfectly camouflaged and lying unmoving barely five metres from our open topped vehicle. A closer more personal African experience than that offered by Tree Camp in Londolozi is difficult to imagine.

The leopard behind us we headed back to our exquisitely appointed rooms, each with their own plunge pool and viewing deck. After freshening up with a candlelit bath, we are treated to a sumptuous dinner under the open African sky. It may be the fragrance of leadwood blossoms or simply that here romance itself permeates the air. If you haven’t yet fallen in love with the African bush, you will at Tree Camp.
