Blues Restaurant Review

‘Toot’ –‘ toot ‘– the Rikkis Taxi’s overtook me and swerved infront of me… and there they were in full show to remind me that first of all I hadn’t written a blog about Blues  and secondly  to remind me of just how damn sexy Blues Restaurant actually is… !

What am I whittering on about you may well ask ?

The Blues Bottoms… of course… the Blues Bottoms, which are blazoned across the Rikki’s Taxis that drive across Cape Town.

20 years ago when Blues Restaurant first opened it was the places to be seen.

The rich, famous and beautiful people of Cape Town would flock there in their hundreds to dine on its excellent cuisine and admire its breathtaking views. You would need to book weeks almost months in advance for a table. After many year, tall poppy syndrome affected Blues and gradually other restaurants opened up and Blues lost a little bit of its luster and sparkle.

But – watch out – as David and I will testify at our recent lunch at Blues Restaurant  the old owners, are back !! The menus have been freshened up, a new eager chef is at the helm, the waiting staff are on their toes, as Justin Timberlake would say ‘They’re Bringing Sexy Back !’….

From its loft location overlooking Camps Bay Beach, Blues makes the perfect location for a seafood lunch, where you can dine on the finest and freshest catch of the day. Alternatively book a dinner table where you can unwind after a day spent touring around Cape Town. What we particularly like about eating at Blues is that it is can be as informal or as formal as you want it to be. You can feel comfortable coming off the beach in your flip flops for a relaxed but beautifully presented Summer Salad, or equally at home dressed for a delicious dinner with friends.

Why not arrive early and enjoy a sundowner drink in Baraza their Zanzibar inspired bar, with a very extensive cocktail list.

Booking is absolutely essential.
